Rated 4 out of 5 by Poor quality Recently bought walnuts from Peak village in Derbyshire - they were burnt looking and had an acrid taste. Never had a problem before with this product - went to store in Hanley did not buy them as they had the same burnt look about them 12 August 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Walnuts Ever! If there was a chance of putting 0 ratings here I would. Had these when on offer. Ordered on-line and OMG they were awful. Dark in colour, bitter and rancid to taste, some even soft to touch and others broken. Swore blind I'd NEVER buy them from H&B ever again and haven't! MY ADVICE TO ANYONE WHO DOES BUY THEM? - CHECK THE DATE! When I did this it became more than evidently clear.... They were so close to the sell by date it was no wonder they were "off". Put me off ordering on-line for ages. Even to redeem vouchers!! HOLLAND and BARRETT..... Stop palming off your "can't sell" items in penny sales/ 2-4-1's/better than half price etc etc. CONSUMERS..... Check the dates of ALL ITEMS you buy - specially if home delivered. Nuts like these that are eaten stale are not good for your health!! Shame on you H&B :-( 12 November 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality Bought nuts from HB many times with no problems but this packet of wanut halves was not to your standard. They had a burnt bitter taste and rather unpleasant. I've had to throw them away. 18 October 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not very nice I've been buying walnut halves, along with a host of other products from my local Holland & Barrett for years, i've only ever bought the walnuts of USA origin (Neals Yard), but recently could only get them with origin of India, i've had to throw them; they're dry and tasted sour, some of them weren't edible! 04 September 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad quality I was very disappointed when I tasted these nuts, the taste was quite bad (usually when nuts are stored for long time and at wrong temprate you can feel the oil in them started to taste bad). I was not expecting to see such low quality from H&B. 21 December 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Repulsive Shrivelled, black and smelled bitter. How did these pass any meaningful quality control? 13 October 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Buy the Californian walnuts! I love walnuts and was so disappointed when I opened these. They were dark in colour, dry and had a bitter flavour which left an aftertaste in my mouth - I threw them out. I've tried them on a couple of occasions since in the hope I was just unlucky, but they're just the same. I now buy the Californian walnuts which are much tastier and better quality. Come on Holland and Barrett, ditch this inferior product. 25 July 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Neal's Yard nut source inferior I have bought H&B's Neal's Yard branded walnut halves for years as daily treats/rewards for my 4 parrots. The lighter & sweeter variety of nuts shown on the site image is not accurate. The recent switch to Indian sourced walnuts (which are darker & bitter tasting) means I have to buy the more expensive Californian nuts or go elsewhere. Please stock an alternative product that is comparably priced (with cheaper Neal's Yard product) but doesn't use the darker/bitter variety of nut. My parrots just spit them out; and they'll eat almost anything! 13 March 2013
