Oat milk is a delicious, dairy free alternative to cow’s milk, which is also suitable for both vegans and vegetarians. It has a mild, creamy flavour.
Oat milk can be used in hot drinks such as coffee and tea or else added to cereal or porridge, for a delicious breakfast and a great start to the day.
You can also add it to fruit smoothies and protein smoothies or shakes, for a low-fat way to make them more substantial and filling.
Simply replace water or milk with oat milk and blend as usual.
Oat milk is very refreshing as a drink on its own.
Minor Figures Oat M*lk is specially formulated to be used in coffee, thanks to the brand’s experience working as baristas, roasters and café owners.
If you are vegan, following a plant-based diet or you just want to cut down on your dairy consumption, then oat milk could be the perfect solution for you.
When looking at oat milk nutrition, compared to cow’s milk, unsweetened oat milk contains less than a quarter of the calories and less than half the fat.
It is also lower in both protein and carbohydrates. Oat milk is one of the lowest calorie, dairy free milks available.
Oat milk provides more of the B vitamin riboflavin, or vitamin B2 than cow’s milk.
Vitamin B2 helps to support normal skin and eyes, as well as the normal functioning of the nervous system.
It also helps to support normal energy yielding metabolism, where the body releases energy from the foods we eat.
Minor Figures Oat Milk 1l does not contain any added sugar.
No, most oat milks are not gluten free unless they are specifically certified as such.
Oats themselves are naturally free from gluten but it is common for them to be cross-contaminated with gluten.
Oat milk ingredients include oats and water. It is made by combining the two.
This mixture is then milled until it reaches a fine consistency and enzymes are added to help break down the starch from the oats.
The bran solids are then separated out, leaving just the liquid remaining.
Some additional flavourings and ingredients may be added before the liquid is heat-treated, in order to increase its shelf life.
You can also make your own oat drink at home. Making oat milk is fairly straightforward: just blend together rolled oats and water and then strain the mixture, to obtain the liquid.
Yes, you can freeze oat milk. However, once it is defrosted, it can have a slightly grainy texture, due to the way it settles during freezing.
This might be less pleasant to drink within tea or coffee but it is fine to use in other foods, such as porridge or baking recipes.
Yes, most oat milks are 100% plant based and vegan.
In fact, oat milk is a good vegan alternative to dairy milk for your cereal and hot drinks.
Minor Figures Oat M*lk 1l is suitable for anyone following either a vegan or a vegetarian diet as it does not contain any animal products.
