How to Use Bodyotics Menstrual Discs

Getting Started:

Some people get it on the first try. For others, it takes a little time—and that’s completely normal. We recommend giving yourself at least two full cycles to get comfortable with inserting, positioning, and removing your disc. Start at home and take your time – once it’s placed correctly, it feels like nothing at all.

Step 1: Sterilize & Insert

Before your first use, sterilize the disc by boiling it for 5 minutes or using the Bodyotics ComfyCase.

Wash your hands. The disc may look large, but don’t worry—once pinched into a figure-8, it folds to the size of a tampon. Insert it while aiming toward your tailbone. Use your finger to guide the front rim up and back so it tucks securely behind your pubic bone. If placed correctly, you won’t feel it.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Inserting A Menstrual Disc:

Not inserting deep enough: If it leaks or feels uncomfortable, it may not be tucked behind the pubic bone. Discs sit deeper than cups - in the vaginal fornix, not the vaginal canal.

Wrong angle: Always insert toward your tailbone, not straight upward.

Pressing against the cervix: The disc should curve behind the cervix—not sit in front of or push against it.

Step 2: Wear for Up to 12 Hours

Bodyotics discs can be worn for up to 12 hours, day or night. With a capacity of up to 60ml (about 5+ tampons), they’re ideal for both light and heavy flow. It won't leak when positioned correctly. Some users experience “self-emptying” during bathroom use - this is normal and can even be helpful on heavy days.

Step 3: Find Your Own Period Disc Fit

All Bodyotics disc sets include two sizes, because your body and flow can change throughout your cycle.

Switch between sizes based on comfort, position, or the changing menstrual flow level. Many users rotate between the two discs as their period changes - test both to discover what works best for your body.

Step 4: Remove & Clean

Wash your hands and find a comfortable position - sitting on the toilet or in the shower works best. Relax your muscles, insert a finger, and hook the removal ring, string, or the rim (if trimmed). Gently pull downward. As the disc slides out, it will naturally open and release fluid into the toilet. Don’t worry - your disc can’t get stuck or lost.

Step 5: Clean

Rinse with warm water after each use. Sterilize your disc at the end of each cycle by boiling it for 5 minutes or using the Bodyotics ComfyCase - a portable, microwave-safe wash and sterilization case.
