Egmont Honey Manuka Honey MGO 250+ 250g
By Egmont HoneyEgmont’s MGO 250+ honey, is a mono-floral Manuka. ‘Mono’ floral indicates that the honey is produced entirely from nectar of the Manuka Bush, a flora native to New Zealand. Mono-floral Manuka’s often have a higher MGO rating, due to their purity.
Egmont’s hives are situated in remote parts of the Taranaki forest, where our bee’s live un-disturbed and free to roam. This results in some of the purest and cleanest forms of Manuka honey.
Manuka has been used by New Zealand’s indigenous people for thousands of years, for its wellness benefits and of course, delicious taste. The same is still true today, with Manuka making a great addition to any supplement regime.
All of Egmont’s honey goes through rigorous testing protocols, to ensure its quality and to determine the level of methylglyoxal (MGO) in a batch. The level of MGO determines the grade and potency of the Manuka honey. Therefore, you can rest assured that when we say our honey is high quality, it's nothing less.

Manuka honey is a type of honey which is made by bees who pollinate the manuka bush.
The manuka bush is native to New Zealand and has been used in traditional medicine, by indigenous New Zealanders, for thousands of years for healing.
Only honey which is made with predominantly manuka nectar can be certified as manuka honey.
All Egmont manuka honey is subject to rigorous testing to ensure that it can be classed as such.
Manuka honey is more expensive than some other honeys. This is because it is much rarer and more challenging to obtain than other honey.
Manuka honey is made by the pollination of the manuka bush in New Zealand and can only be made using this bush.
Other honeys are made with a selection of different plants, which makes it more readily available and therefore cheaper to produce.
Manuka honey is thought to be more beneficial than other honeys and so many consider it worth paying the extra cost.
Manuka honey has antibacterial effects. Its active ingredient is methylglyoxal (MGO) which is thought to be what gives it these properties.
All honeys have beneficial properties but it is thought that manuka honey is even more beneficial.
It has been traditionally used to soothe a sore throat as well as for helping to heal wounds and supporting a normal digestive system.
Adding a spoonful of manuka honey to a cup of warm water may help to provide some relief from a sore throat, as it helps to coat the inner lining of the throat, as well as attacking any harmful bacteria.
Manuka honey also contains antioxidants. Antioxidants help to protect the cells from oxidative stress which is the damage that can be caused by free radicals.
You can eat manuka honey in the same way as you would eat other traditional honeys.
Add a spoonful to your porridge, granola or Greek yogurt for a delicious breakfast.
It also mixes well into smoothies or can be added to tea and coffee, as an alternative to sugar or sweetener.
Alternatively, you can enjoy manuka honey by the teaspoon, as part of your wellness routine.
You can also use manuka honey on your face. Because of its antibacterial properties, it is thought that it may be beneficial for blemish prone skin.
To use, simply apply topically to affected areas or apply a thin layer all over the face and leave on for 15 minutes, for a nourishing face mask treatment.
MGO is a scale which determines the level of methylglyoxal (MGO) within a batch of manuka honey.
The level of MGO determines the potency of the manuka honey and the greater the number, the better the beneficial properties of the honey.
Egmont Honey Manuka Honey MGO 250+ 250g has an MGO rating of 250, which is at the upper end of the MGO scale.
