What ages are these multivitamins for?

Suitable for ages three and up, these comprehensive one-a-day multivitamins are so full of good stuff they are even suitable for adult sized people who do not like swallowing pills.

My child refuses to take tablets, what can I do?

No worries! We know that taking multivitamin pills and omega 3 capsules is a big ask for little people.

That is why Holland & Barrett Healthy Kids Multivitamins with Omega-3 have a juicy, fresh orange flavour and a soft, chewable texture. They are so delicious most kids will think they are a treat.

Why are omega 3 supplements important?

This multivitamin contains a good dose of omega 3 fatty acids. Usually found in fatty fish and omega 3 fish oil capsules, these essential fatty acids are a must have for all ages.

Since omega-3 is vital for brain function and development as well as vision, adding it to this kids’ multivitamin was a no-brainer.

The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of DHA.

The three essential fatty acids, EPA DHA and ALA can’t be produced by the body so it is important to get them from a healthy diet. And while ALA is plentiful in numerous plant sources, getting kids to eat a source of EPA and DHA, like salmon, mackerel or sardines, is not always plain sailing.

Which vitamins are most important for kids?

Vitamins A, D and C are consideredessential for healthy growth.

And in fact, vitamins D and C are equally vital for healthy immunity, a must when your immature immune system is constantly faced with new bugs at the park or in the classroom.

Vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 are also a good choice for growing children, especially when they reach school age, vitamin B12 has a role in the process of cell division and B6 helps with normal protein metabolism.

This is because these two B vits are so closely associated with energy yielding metabolism, meaning they will help children to get the energy they need to grow and function.

Antioxidant vitamin E, also present in our children’s multivitamin, helps to protect cells from damage caused by pollution and other environmental stressors.

Do children really need multivitamins?

Growing children are in need of a wide range of vitamins and minerals.

In fact, many national governments and health services, including the NHS, recommend that young children under 5 are given certain vitamins – including vitamin A, vitamin D and vitamin C – via a supplement or fortified milk.

This is because these vitamins, along with others, are needed for healthy growth, strong bones and teeth. They also give little ones all the energy they need to run you ragged.

Giving your kids a multivitamin takes the pressure off you too.

Because while you might give them a well-balanced meal whenever you can, it is not always easy to persuade them to make good food choices in the school canteen or when they are at a friend’s house.

A multivitamin such as these Holland & Barrett Healthy Kids multivitamins mean that you know they are getting their daily dose of good stuff, alongside encouraging them to eat their peas.
