Description
Wheatgerm is a natural source of protein and fibre, making it an excellent addition to any diet. Not only is wheatgerm nutritious, but it also adds a delicious nutty notes and a subtle crunchy texture to your dishes.
Protein and fibre are key macronutrients in the diet, and as these take longer to digest than other macronutrients, they may help us to feel fuller. Incorporating fibre and protein rich ingredients into meals may help to keep hunger at bay. Protein contributes to a growth and maintenance of muscle mass. Wheatgerm is also high in fibre, Iron, zinc and magnesium and is a source of selenium. Magnesium and Iron contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

love wheatgerm, hate smell of plastic packet
“Love this Wheatgerm, sprinkled on breakfast cereal. The unfortunate thing about the new style packaging since their change is an unfortunate plastic smell which can be off-putting. So I mitigate by standing well back when spooning it out; the wheatgerm itself doesn't seem to have suffered from being infused with the plastic smell. I also try not to look at the front of the packet as instead of the yellow packaging previously which conjured up pictures of healthy golden wheatfields, the new packets are gaudy pink, which has no resemblance to the wheat from which the wheatgerm is made and instead makes my mouth expect sickly sweet glace cherries. So the new changes can take quite some getting over. I don't know why they had to change supplier; the old Neal's Yard wheatgerm was much better.”
