Discover what all the buzz is about! Pure Gold Manuka Honey is a delicious premium variety of honey packed with even more antibacterial properties than your average honey.
What makes Manuka honey so special is its levels of NPA (non-peroxide activity) and dietary MGO (methylglyoxal) – where this honey’s antibacterial goodness comes from. The higher the level of MGO in honey, the higher the antibacterial properties. An internationally-accredited laboratory, approved by the New Zealand government, tested these levels so you can trust its authenticity.
So, you may be wondering what the difference between Pure Gold Manuka Honey and normal Manuka honey is. Pure Gold Manuka Honey has a thicker consistency, a darker colour and a creamier texture. This decadent version is known worldwide for its advanced antibacterial properties and rich flavour.
There are two main categories of Manuka honey: monofloral and multifloral. Multifloral means that the bees who make the honey mostly collect the nectar from the Manuka bush, but also visit other plants. Whereas monofloral honey is made from nectar from the Manuka bush, making it a purer product. Pure Gold Manuka Honey is monofloral and has been tested to make sure that two of the four chemical Manuka markers are of a higher level than multifloral honey.
Blossoming in the rural pastures of New Zealand, the Manuka bush is (unsurprisingly!) the most important part of Manuka honey production. Indigenous Maoris have used the bush for its medicinal properties for more than 4000 years. Nowadays, the benefits of Manuka have been shared worldwide and a lot of people have incorporated it into their daily routine. Whether it’s used as a replacement for sugar and artificial sweeteners in drinks and food, or taken as it is from a spoon, this rich honey goes down nicely.
The next time you suffer from a sore throat or common cold, stir a spoon of Manuka honey into tea or warm water to soothe those tickly coughs and sore throats. You can also use it just like regular runny honey that you buy from the supermarket: spoon it into you morning porridge, drizzle it over your favourite yoghurt or mix it into a marinade.
Every batch of Manuka honey is rigorously tested before it leaves New Zealand to ensure that it meets the required quality parameters. This process guarantees that the honey you are getting is 100% genuine Manuka and of a high quality. You can even trace it back to the beekeeper it came from!
