How to make nettle tea

Brew your own cup of stinging nettle tea. Tea bags or loose-leaf tea are the convenient option, but making nettle tea using your own hand-picked nettles is easy using the following steps:

1. Pick your nettles – avoid clusters near trees or lampposts where animals like to ‘mark’.
2. Give them a thorough rinse in cool water.
3. Place a cup of nettle leaves into a pan and cover with two cups of water.
4. Heat on the hob until it just starts to boil.
5. Turn off the heat and allow the tea to steep for five minutes.
6. Pour the tea into a mug, using a strainer to get rid of any bits.

Sweeten your nettle tea if desired by adding a teaspoon of honey or a little stevia.

What are the side effects of nettle tea?
