As well as having to deal with the chilly temperatures and darker days, we often have to deal with skin issues in the colder months too. Our skin has to face a lot in the winter season including frosty mornings, cold days and a lack of vitamin D thanks to less sunshine.
Many people also don’t realise that having your heating on dries your poor skin out. You may find that you suffer with certain issues purely in winter, particularly dry and flaky skin. Don’t let your skin suffer though, give it the best shot at surviving the winter. Here’s how:
Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean you can ditch the SPF. Don’t forget to wear sun cream on those rare sunny winter days as your skin still needs protection from harmful rays.
You can help protect those fingers and toes by wearing gloves and covering up. Wear a scarf to shelter your skin from that icy breeze and avoid windburn.
If your skin is in desperate need of some TLC and moisture, leave on some moisturiser overnight. You can even slap on a generous amount of moisturiser on your hands and feet and seal in the moisture with gloves and socks for a few hours. Your skin will feel delightfully soft afterwards.
If your skin is super flaky then you might want to give it a good scrub. Exfoliate your skin to get rid of those pesky dead skin cells, but not too often as you could cause irritation. Try this naturally formulated scrub which contains ingredients that guard against moisture loss.
There’s a whole army of products that can help you fight your winter skin woes. Got chapped lips? Always have a nourishing lip balm handy. Suffer from cracked, dry hands? Make sure you have a decent hand cream and apply it after washing your hands.
Dry scalp? Slap on some coconut, olive oil or Vitamin E and give yourself a scalp massage before having a shower, or try Dr Organic Scalp treatment. And if your face feels horrendously dry, treat it to a homemade face mask packed with hydrating ingredients such as avocado and olive oil.Shop Natural Beauty
