I am kicking myself for not trying this sooner!
“I found this in store while I was scouring the shelves for coconut and coconut derivative free products. I have tried washing my face with soap in the past (famous one named after the bird of peace) to terrible dry, acneic outcomes. For the last year I thought I was suffering rosacea, folliculitis etc - just terrible rash riddled skin. After seeing a dermatologist when I started to peel around my eyes it turned out I am allergic to coconut and its derivatives - which are in EVERYTHING. Except this soap! Within hours of using it my skin was calm. I didn't find it too drying, but I moisturised afterwards (with an almond sensitive moisturiser from h and b). Such a difference! I know some people complain about the smell, but I love it. It reminds me of old Italian towns and groves. Would recommend this to anyone and everyone! Oh, and I live in a hard water area in the West of England and it washed very cleanly off my skin.”

A gentle, effective, environmentally-friendly soap
“Moving away from shampoos, gels and other oil-based stuff in plastic, we have been searching for effective, environmentally-friendly alternatives. Soaps are an obvious answer, used by millions until the 1960's, when advertising converted many of us to plastic bottles of everything. Oliva soap is one that we landed on after lots of experimentation with hand-made soaps that don't use tallow or palm oil and with Marseille-made olive oil-based soaps. What a surprise to discover Oliva! Not only is it made from 100% olive oil but it comes in a cardboard box and is much cheaper than these other soaps. When it comes to cleaning it is excellent, even in our hard water area. We use it in the shower, replacing shower gel. One bar lasts nearly two months, which makes it half the price of even the cheapest shower gels. Since it doesn't contain lots of oil-based foaming chemicals, it doesn't foam up like gels and some other soaps; you just have to keep rubbing it onto a sponge as you go along and it gently cleans. It washes away easily with hardly any residue, doing away with slimy sponges and mould on back brushes. One of us says that it has a slight smell but the other says it has no smell at all, so take your pick! I have since spoken with others about this soap and discovered an eczema sufferer who said that this was the only skin cleaner that she could use that didn't worsen her condition. Since Holland & Barrett don't stock this in store, I ordered ten bars that were delivered to the store for collection the following day. This is the most environmentally-friendly, effective soap that we have used to date. The only issue is that of the carbon miles in shipping it from Crete, where it is made. It does help that island's economy, though.”

Great value product
“This soap contains just three ingredients so is wonderful for skin that is easily irritated. I needed to try a SLS free soap and this one is perfect. It doesn't foam much but your skin feels amazingly clean after washing with this. I use it all over my body and face and have a bar in the shower, bath and sink! All the family are now using it. Feels so natural and full of goodness. I love it and the price is such good value. It is a big bar and it lasts very well.”
