Rated 1 out of 5 by Very disappointing Normally I love Holland and Barrett products. This Christmas I received a snail facemask. It left my face tingling and burning. After removing it I looked like I had very bad sunburn or been under a sun lamp for too long. I had to put cold flannels on my face to calm it down. It took a few hours to go away. Surely this can't be normal. I've never had an adverse reaction to any products in the whole of my life and have tried many things over the years. I'm 51 so have made many purchases over the years. This would put me off buying other snail products unfortunately. 17 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Never again. Tried it, left it for 10 mins, it smelt lovely and felt fine, it didn't dry at all, wiped it off with damp warm cotton wool to reveal my face bright red and then it started burning. I looked as though I'd fallen asleep under a heat lamp. I washed my face and covered my face with Aloe Vera, it took 2 hours for my skin to calm down. I won't be trying this particular product again! I use the Dr Organics Argan facial serum, now this is lovely and a 'must have'. 30 November 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by My face and neck turn in Red! I can't feel anything wrong when putting on the mask but my face and neck turn red like sunburn after washed it off!!! I don't see the results as said from other comments but I learnt to pay attention to all the comments here... Test it before using it! Hopeful my face and neck will calm soon... 16 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad skin reaction I have never had a skin reaction to anything i have put on my face before, i thought i had pretty tough skin, but i put this mask on my face and it started tingling my skin, I think this was what was meant to happen and was just a refreshing tingle but then it got worse and after 8 mins or so i looked in the mirror and I could see red undernearth the mask so i quickly washed it off and it looked like I had a bright red face mask on!! i looked like i had been sunburnt like a few other people have experienced. Never had this happen before so was very surprised. I am wondering what it has in it to make this happen. I wanted to buy the snail gel moisturiser but has put me off. 06 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Skin reaction I ordered the snail gel mask online along with other H&B products and was looking forward to using it after such rave reviews and wanted to give my skin a little moisture boost. It smells nice and refreshing with a lemon/lime citrus scent. It comes out of the sachet as a white cream and feels cooling as it goes on the skin. I applied it to my face and neck and set a timer for 10mins. I could feel my skin tingling slightly but it felt like a cold mentho tingle rather than an uncomfortable sting, so I didn't really think much of it, however, by about 7 minutes, I could feel the cool tingle turn nearly immediately to an intense burn. I could see the redness in the areas underneath the mask as I rushed to remove it. I had to rinse and bathe it again and again in cool water to stop what felt like severe sunburn. It even looked like sunburn with whiter patches around my eyes and lips where I hadn't applied it. I don't normally react to products so I was very surprised and needless to say incredibly disappointed at this, especially as this is meant to be a natural and organic product! I took photos straight after but I am unable to post them. My face remained quite pink/red and went through a rather itchy stage about 12hrs after removing it. Even over 24hrs later, the skin on my face and neck is still pink and inflamed. Not good at all! There are no lot numbers or identifying features on the packaging that I can list. I would recommend a patch test for this product before use and to use it with caution. I have a further packet but will definitely NOT be using it and certainly wouldn't recommend it. 04 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Be careful with this product I used the face mask and after a minute or so my skin had a strong burning sensation. I don't have sensitive skin and have never before had any sort of reaction to a product even though I have used many and various creams/preparations/masks over the years. Washed it off in cold water immediately but skin bright red and sore - never had such a thing in my life! No doubt t it will settle down and I know that lots of people really love this product - but may be sensible to do a small skin patch test before using all over your face. 10 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bad reaction I have just used the mask for the first time and had unexpected results. After around 6 minutes my face was burning and tingling and I had to rinse the mask off immediately using a cold cloth to cool the burning. My face looked sunburnt and the whole experience was quite unpleasant, slightly scarey in fact! Afterwards I read the reviews on this page and saw that several other people have had similar reactions. There should be an allergy warning on the product that is marked in bold letters. I have never had a reaction like this to any other products ( I have used many) and wouldn't want anyone else to have this experience if it could be avoided. 20 January 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Red Raw Although my skin alternates between dry and oily, only products high in chemicals and perfumes affect it but I have never experienced anything like this before. Face masks are usually fine on my skin so I never bother doing a patch test however after the awful experience I've had with this, I would definitely recommend taking a patch test first! Although the product does say to avoid usage if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, I have never been allergic to anything in my life so assumed I would be completely fine and could have a relaxing night. How wrong was I?! After a few minutes of the product being on my skin, I felt a slight tingle. I thought this was a normal thing as it is deep cleansing and "intensive" however the small tingle expanded across my face and began to burn - it was quite painful. The redness of my skin was visible through the mask itself so I raced to wash it off with cool water. The result was horrendous. My face looked and felt as though I had been sunburned - there was a physical heat to my skin that could be felt simply by touching my cheek. You could clearly see the difference between my face and neck as well as the places uncovered by the mask ie; eye area. The redness/pain lasted almost an hour and a half before finally cooling and disappearing. Definitely will not be purchasing this again and I really do urge that you do a skin patch test before using! 02 February 2016
