What are the benefits of peanut butter?
Meridian peanut butter is made with 100% skin-on peanuts, and that’s it, nothing else is added. Read about the benefits of high-quality natural peanut butter below:
Peanuts are high in protein (20% of their calories come from protein)
Peanuts contain amino acids
Peanuts contain good levels of B vitamins
Peanuts are a rich source of important minerals
The Meridian healthy peanut butter range includes:

What are hi-oliec peanuts?
Meridian only put nature’s very best ingredients into their products, and when it comes to peanuts, the hi-oliec variety are hard to beat. They contain a whopping 30% more oleic acid (the good-kind of monounsaturated fat) than your standard peanut.
Wait, is fat good for you then?
Everybody needs some fat in their life. Fat is actually a very important part of the human diet – helping the body to absorb vital minerals and vitamins, as well as providing energy. But, it’s important to eat the right kinds of fat.
Unsaturated fat is the sort of fat is usually found in seeds, grains, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Plant-based monounsaturated fats are considered particularly healthy and can be found in almonds, hazelnuts and peanuts
Saturated fat is the sort of fat found in meat, cheese, butter, ghee and other dairy products and this is the fat you need to keep a close eye on. Eating too much can increase your risk of heart disease and raise cholesterol levels
What are the benefits of Almond Butter?
Almond nuts are one of the healthiest nuts around. Their benefits include:
Almonds are packed with vitamin E
Almonds are high in fibre
Almonds are made of around 15% protein
Almonds are low in unsaturated fat
Meridian Smooth Almond Butter is perfectly palm oil free and made from 100% pure roasted almond nuts. Try some almond butter on rice cakes or in almond energy bars!
Do Meridian products contain palm oil?
Nope! Meridian are against using palm oil and their whole product range is 100% palm oil free.
A lot of other peanut butters on the market use palm oil to stop the oil from seeds and nuts from naturally separating, so they remove the naturally nutritious nut oils and replace them with palm oil – bit silly that isn’t it?
As well as affecting the nutritional benefits of your product, non-sustainable palm oil also affects the rainforest in a devastating way. Environmental groups have said that large-scale production of palm oil is a threat to orangutans and other primates that live in Indonesia’s rainforests. This is because the plantations can cause deforestation, increased greenhouse gas emissions and perhaps most upsetting: the loss of habitat for critically endangered species.
Not only do Meridian shun palm oil in their products, they also support the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS) who look after and rehabilitate approximately 800 displaced and orphaned orangutans. Meridian have adopted 8 of those orphans and help with the costs of rehabilitating these orangutans until they can be released back into their natural habitat.
