When there are natural ingredients that have been used for centuries to make us look and feel beautiful, why does the beauty industry push products onto us that contain synthetic chemicals and artificial colours and fragrances? It just doesn’t make sense.
Here at Holland & Barrett, we pride ourselves on the natural goodness in the products we sell.

Vegan beauty makes sure than no animals are harmed in the making of your beauty product. But what isn’t vegan about a beauty product? We hear you ask. Even if a product doesn’t contain obvious animal ingredients like honey and milk, it can still be classed as non-vegan. A common ingredient in hair colourants and conditioners is vitamin D3, which is animal derived, but you’d never automatically think it comes from an animal.
You’d be surprised at how many beauty companies put their products through animal testing, yes even in this day and age! But you’ll be happy to know that vegan beauty products never test on animals – just look for the Leaping Bunny logo.
Essential oils are wonderful for overall health and 100% natural. They are extracted from a plant’s roots, stems, leaves and petals, usually by steam, and each plant has its own unique properties:
Here are a few ways you can use them:
- Swirl a few drops of lavender oil into your bath for ultimate relaxation
- Mix tea tree oil with a base or carrier oil and apply to the skin
- Combine peppermint oil with a carrier oil to feel invigorated all day by its rich smell
- Inhale sweet orange oil for a refreshing aroma
