8 of the best wellness shots & benefits

02 Sep 2021 • 5 min read

Want to dip your toe into the world of wellness shots? Here are 8 of the best and why you may consider adding to your daily routine.

What is a wellness shot drink?

A little different to the shots you are perhaps used to… wellness shots are small ‘shot-able’ drinks that are usually packed with natural ingredients that can support our health.

Common ingredients include:

  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • CBD
  • Lemon
  • Apple
  • Collagen
  • Apple cider vinegar

What does a wellness shot do?

Think of them as a quick and convenient way to get some goodness into your body – no kitchen or blender necessary!

Each shot will have its own unique benefits, depending on what ingredients have been used.

3 benefits of wellness shots

  1. Quick: if you don’t have time to sit down and drink a large smoothie or eat a meal, a wellness shot can be a super-quick option to nourish your body with nutrients.
  2. Easy: instead of having to drag out the blender or cook up a storm, you can enjoy the benefits of wellness shots by simply unscrewing the lid and shotting it down!
  3. Concentrated: as there isn’t much liquid to work with, ingredients in wellness shots tend to be super concentrated so you don’t have to chug down a big old glass.

8 of the best wellness shots

We've rounded up 8 of the best wellness shots available today, either in shops or using your very own kitchen.

1. Beetroot shots

Beetroot shots are a source of potassium, manganese and folic acid.1

What our customers think:

Runner560 – Great stuff!! – 5/5 stars
“I bought this to take before training sessions (100-mile runs) and it does give you an extra boost which is very noticeable. I was unsure about buying it due to not particularly being keen on the taste of beetroot, but I need not have worried as it’s not too bad."

2. Ginger shots

What are ginger shots good for?

Ginger not only brings hearty warmth to curries and other delish meals, it can also support your joint health.

6. Homemade apple cider vinegar shots

You can’t simply sip apple cider vinegar raw, as it could burn your mouth and throat, so why not make your own apple cider vinegar shot?

This ACV shot serves 1, but can be modified to make in bulk.

Simply combine the juice and vinegar in a small jar or bottle and give it a good old shake.

Cover and leave in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

Drink when you’re ready!

7. Homemade ginger shots

We already discussed the potential health benefits of a pre-packaged ginger shot above; a homemade one should be pretty much the same!

Here’s a recipe for a 1 lemon and ginger shot drink (adjust if you want to make multiple shots at the same time).

  • 15g fresh ginger
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 teaspoon of honey

Peel the ginger and roughly chop before adding to your blender and blitzing for a few seconds.

Add in the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.

Cover and leave in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

Drink your yummy lemon ginger shot when you’re ready.

8. Homemade immunity shots

How do immunity shots work?

For a shot to be called an ‘immunity shot’, it should contain ingredients that support your natural immunity.

It works to ensure your immune system is functioning properly.

Try this lemon, ginger & turmeric shot recipe (makes 1 shot – but can modified to make in bulk):

  • Half a small orange
  • 1 small lemon
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp fresh turmeric
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • A dash of extra virgin olive oil

Peel the ginger and roughly chop before adding to your blender and blitzing for a few seconds.

Add in the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.

Cover and leave in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.

Drink your tasty immunity-supporting shot when you’re ready.
