Raise your sandwich game with this vegan-friendly favourite from across the pond.
- 1 tsp sunflower oil
- 1 x chopped red pepper
- 1 x sliced white onion
- 1.5 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 2 x packs of Bonsan Organic Kofu Steak*
- cheese (we love Violifes grated cheese!)*
- 2 x baguettes

Heat the oil in a heavy based pan, add the chopped pepper and sliced onion, and fry until soft and golden.
Add the white wine vinegar and cook, stirring intermittently, until most of the liquid has been absorbed or evaporated.
Slice the steaks lengthways into strips, and then cut the strips in half, for pieces around an inch long.
In a separate pan, place one half of the steak strips in a pile equivalent to the length of your roll, fry for 3 minutes, and then cover with half of the onion and pepper mixture, as well as half of the cheese.
Leave to cook on a medium heat for 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
Halve one of your baguettes and spread with mayonnaise, then carefully add the mixture.
Repeat process for second sandwich (or more if you’re feeding a crowd!)
