The kitchen's tidy, the emails have stopped, and the day still hasn't quite let go.

Night Calm is the blend for that gap. All three of its herbs have been taken in India as the day winds down, and taken that way for centuries.

Ashwagandha leads. The root is the part used, and its name is Sanskrit for horse. In the tradition, that's a reference to a horse's strength. It's heavy, warming and grounding, and it's the herb most associated with the end of the day.

Brahmi, or bacopa, is the counterpoint. Cool where ashwagandha is warm, and it works on a busy mind rather than on the body.

Nutmeg finishes it. Warm, heavy and comforting, and used in the evening in small amounts for as long as anyone can remember. It's the finishing touch rather than a main player, and the amount is chosen with care, because nutmeg is a herb that does its best work gently.

Warm and heavy on one side, cool and quiet on the other. That balance is why the three are taken together.

Two of these herbs are in Daily Calm as well, and the third is where the two blends part. Tulsi lifts, which is what makes it a morning herb, so nutmeg takes its place here. Ashwagandha moves from support to lead, the amounts change with it, and a morning blend becomes an evening one.

Organic magnesium from sea lettuce completes the blend. Its work runs through muscles and nerves, which widens the ground the blend covers. Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function, to the normal functioning of the nervous system, to normal psychological function, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
