1. About These Terms

1.1 These terms apply to the purchase and use of Holland & Barrett Physical gift cards. By purchasing or using a gift card, you agree to these terms.

1.2 Gift cards are issues by Holland & Barrett Retail Limited, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 02758955, whose registered office is at Samuel Ryder House, Barling Way, Eliot Park, Nuneaton, CV10 7RH ("Holland & Barrett", "we", "us", "our").

  1. Purchase and Activation

2.1 https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/stores/Gift cards can only be purchased in participating Holland & Barrett stores listed in our Store Finder at https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/stores/. They cannot be purchased online. The card will be loaded with the amount requested by the customer at the till and activated immediately at the point of purchase, unless there is a technical issue.

2.2 If a gift card cannot be successfully activated due to a technical issue, the transaction will not be completed, and the customer will not be charged. Where a payment has been temporarily authorised or reserved, the amount will be released back to the original payment method in accordance with the relevant payment provider's processing times.

2.3 Ownership of the gift card transfers to the purchaser at the point of purchase. The purchaser is responsible for keeping the gift card safe and secure.

2.4 More than one gift card may be purchased in a single transaction. There is no limit on the number of gift cards that may be purchased in a single transaction.

2.5 Please see Clause 11 for the position on lost, stolen or damaged gift cards.

  1. Minimum and Maximum Load

3.1 The minimum amount that can be loaded onto a gift card is £5 and the maximum amount is £250.

  1. Single Load Only

4.1 Gift cards can only be loaded once at the time of purchase. They cannot be topped up or reloaded. Once the full balance has been used, the card will no longer be valid.

  1. Expiry

5.1 Gift cards expire 2 years after the date of activation. Any remaining balance will be cancelled on expiry.

5.2 The expiry date will be made clear at the point of purchase and, where possible, can be checked using the balance enquiry methods set out below in Clause 7.

  1. Use of the Card

6.1 Gift cards may be used as a payment method in participating Holland & Barrett stores, to see participating stores visit the Store Finder, or online at https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/ to purchase eligible products sold directly by Holland & Barrett Retail Limited. This includes eligible orders placed through the till in a participating store.

6.2 More than one gift card may be used towards a single transaction, both in-store and online. There is no limit on the number of gift cards that may be used in a single transaction.

6.2.1 The balance does not need to be used in one transaction, and any remaining balance will stay on the card.

6.2.2 If the purchase value exceeds the card balance, the difference must be paid using another payment method.

6.3 Any unused balance will remain on the gift card. It cannot be paid out as cash or transferred to another payment method.

6.4 Gift cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards unless we state otherwise. Gift cards also cannot be used to purchase products sold by third-party sellers through the Holland & Barrett Marketplace (Marketplace Products). If an online basket contains any Marketplace Product, a gift card cannot be used as a payment method for that basket. Marketplace Products must be purchased separately using another available payment method. To use a gift card to purchase eligible Holland & Barrett products, Marketplace Products must be removed from the basket and purchased separately using another payment method.

6.5 The balance on a gift card cannot be transferred to another gift card.

6.6 We may require proof of purchase where reasonably necessary, for example to investigate suspected misuse or to assist with a query.

6.7 We may refuse to accept a gift card as payment where we reasonably believe it is being misused or where a transaction cannot be processed due to a system or technical issue.

  1. Balance Enquiries

7.1 Customers can check their gift card balance by:

7.1.1 Visiting the online balance checker here.

7.1.2 Asking a member of staff in-store to scan the card.

7.1.3 Contacting Customer Services at Contact us – Help Centre.

7.2 We do not guarantee that gift cards can always be used or checked without interruption. Temporary system outages may occur.

  1. Proof of Purchase

8.1 Customers should retain their purchase receipt or e-receipt as proof of purchase. Holland & Barrett may require proof of purchase to assist with queries relating to the card or a return.

  1. Refunds and Returns

9.1 The gift card (or any remaining balance) cannot be exchanged for cash, or another payment method and gift cards purchased in-store cannot be returned.

9.2 Where a purchase made using a gift card is returned:

9.2.1 For returns processed in-store, any amount originally paid using a gift card will be refunded as store credit. The original gift card cannot be reloaded in-store.

9.2.2 For returns processed online, any amount originally paid using a gift card will be refunded to the original gift card.

9.2.3 Any amount paid using another payment method will be refunded to that original payment method.

9.2.4 Where a purchase was paid for using a combination of a gift card and another payment method, any refund (including a partial refund) will be allocated between the relevant payment methods in accordance with the applicable refund process.

9.3 Where a new gift card is issued as part of a refund, it will be subject to these terms and conditions, including the applicable validity period.

  1. Promotions and Discounts

10.1 When a gift card is purchased, no H&B&Me points will be earned and promotional, colleague or third-party discount or price override may be applied to the amount loaded onto the gift card.

10.2 When a gift card is redeemed, it is treated as a payment method. Eligible promotions and discounts (including colleague discounts) may be applied to the underlying purchase, and H&B&Me points may be redeemed against eligible products, in each case subject to the applicable promotion, discount or H&B&Me terms.

  1. Lost, Stolen or Damaged Cards

11.1 Gift cards should be treated like cash. Holland & Barrett is not responsible for lost or stolen gift cards, or for unauthorised use, except where this is caused by our error or negligence. We will not replace or reimburse the balance on a lost or stolen card except where this is caused by our error or negligence.

11.2 If a card is damaged or faulty, please contact Customer Services. We may ask for proof of purchase or other information so that we can verify the card and remaining balance. Where we can verify a genuine manufacturing, technical or system issue, we will, where appropriate, replace the card or transfer the remaining balance.

11.3 Holland & Barrett is not responsible for technical issues outside its reasonable control which temporarily prevent a gift card from being used. Where a technical error attributable to Holland & Barrett prevents a gift card from being used, we will take reasonable steps to correct the error and, where appropriate, restore or honour the affected gift card balance.

  1. Restrictions

12.1 Gift cards are issued in GBP and may only be redeemed in participating UK Holland & Barrett stores or on the UK Holland & Barrett website, subject to the product and channel restrictions in these terms.

12.2 Gift cards may not be resold or distributed for commercial purposes without Holland & Barrett's prior written agreement. Gift cards must not be used for the bulk purchase of goods intended for resale.

12.3 Gift cards must not be used in any way that is fraudulent, misleading, or unlawful, or that is intended to circumvent these terms. We reserve the right to refuse, suspend or cancel a gift card, or any transaction, where we reasonably suspect fraud, misuse or unauthorised activity.

  1. Changes to These Terms

13.1 Holland & Barrett may update these terms from time to time where reasonably necessary, for example to reflect changes in law, technology or the way in which our gift card service operates. Any changes will not unfairly reduce the value of a gift card already purchased or materially disadvantage you in relation to an existing balance. The latest version will be available online and/or in-store.

  1. Your Statutory Rights

14.1 These terms do not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer law.

  1. Governing Law

15.1 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

15.2 Any dispute arising in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
