The main reason why we sweat is because our body is trying to cool itself down. As sweat leaves your pores, the air around you makes it evaporate off your skin, which then cools you down.1 Interestingly, us humans have over 2-4 million sweat glands all over our body, but there are more of them on the soles of our feet, palms of our hands, our groin and our armpits.2,3
Having said this, there’s not necessarily more sweat glands your breasts. This area tends to sweat because of the skin folding which traps the moisture.
While sweaty breasts don’t particularly have much of an odour, after a period of time you may find that they smell a little sour or musky under there. This isn’t actually a result of the sweat itself, rather the combination of it with the bacteria on your skin.4
Much like boob sweat, bum sweat is a normal occurrence for most people. Whether it’s a particularly hot day or you’ve just done a workout, you might feel a little moist down there – and that’s okay!
Generally speaking, having sweaty breasts or a sweaty bum isn’t much to worry about! However, if you’re finding that it’s impacting your everyday life, it may be worth booking an appointment with your GP to chat through your symptoms.
So what can you do about boob and bum sweat? Fortunately, we’ve got a handful of tips and tricks for you to try…

There are a few different things you can do with your clothing when it comes to managing your boob or bum sweat. One of the first things to think about is the material. To try and reduce sweating, it may be best to opt for natural fabrics like cotton instead of synthetic materials, like polyester for example.
Also, choosing loose tops and bottoms may be better for you, as tight clothing can trap heat and lead to more moisture.

If you’re worried about sweat marks, one of the safest routes to go down is to wear dark colours like black. That way, any sweat residue will be much harder to spot!

If you’re sick of sweaty boobs, popping a couple of cotton panty liners into the cups of your bra may help to soak up some of the moisture.
Similarly, you can also buy bamboo or cotton bra liners if you’d rather go for a less makeshift option.

Popping a bit of deodorant under your breasts before heading out for the day might be a good idea if you’re worried about getting a little stinky. And we’re not talking about anti-perspirants here, we mean the kind that doesn’t stop you from sweating but makes you smell pleasant.

Preparation is key when it comes to managing boob and booty sweat. So we’d recommend keeping a stash of baby wipes in your bag, so you can freshen yourself up while on the go.

In addition to baby wipes, you might want to bring a spare pair of pants and a bra if you’re worried about feeling uncomfortable and any potential smells.

Sweat can sometimes accumulate when you’ve been sitting down for long periods of time, so to prevent this and get the air flowing down there, it might be worth getting up and walking around every now and then.
