If you’re out of breakfast ideas then you’re going to want to try flaxseed porridge. It’s a delicious and nutritional breakfast that takes no time at all to make.
Whether you make this recipe on the stove or in the fridge overnight, why not enjoy it with a handful of fresh blueberries and some maple syrup; though any fruit will do!
If you’re in a pinch, a spoonful of jam is also a good way to add some fruity flavour to this breakfast recipe. How will you top yours?
Pour the milk in a pan placed over a medium heat until just below simmer point.
Reduce the heat to medium-low heat and stir in the oats, ground flaxseed and coconut sugar.
Cook for 5-8 minutes, uncovered, or until the oats are tender and almost all of the liquid has been absorbed.
Remove from the heat, cover, and let the oatmeal rest for 5 minutes before serving.
If needs be, stir in a little milk to thin out or until you have the desired consistency.
Divide between two serving bowls and serve with a sprinkling of cinnamon.
Add your favourite fresh fruit toppings with a drizzling of maple syrup or jam.
Flaxseed is packed full of protein, magnesium and omega 3.
Protein is good for growing and maintaining muscle mass as well as looking after your bones. Magnesium is also important for your bones and teeth but also helps reduce tiredness and fatigue.
Last but not least, omega 3 is good for helping you to maintain healthy levels of cholesterol in your blood. A fantastic combination of health benefits to pack into your breakfast.
