Make deliciously thick and creamy Greek-style yoghurt at home with Freshly Fermented Organic Greek Yoghurt Starter Culture.
This traditional heirloom culture produces smooth, creamy yoghurt with a rich texture and pleasantly fresh, tangy flavour. For the characteristic thick Greek-style consistency, simply strain the finished yoghurt to remove excess whey and create a naturally thicker, creamier texture without the need for added thickeners.
Unlike single-use, direct-set yoghurt starters, this is a reusable heirloom culture. Simply reserve a small amount of fresh yoghurt from each successful batch and use it to culture the next.
With regular re-culturing and proper care, a single starter can be maintained and used to make homemade yoghurt indefinitely – meaning there is no need to purchase a new starter for every batch.
Cultivated in the UK using certified organic methods, the starter contains traditional yoghurt cultures including Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus.
Supplied in a convenient format for easy storage before activation, the culture comes with full step-by-step instructions covering activation, incubation, straining and re-culturing.
Enjoy your homemade Greek-style yoghurt naturally, or serve with fruit, honey and nuts, blend into smoothies, or use in dips, sauces and cooking.
Activate the starter according to the included instructions.
Once activated, add the required amount of starter to prepared milk and incubate at the recommended temperature until the yoghurt has cultured and set.
For a traditional thick Greek-style consistency, strain the finished yoghurt through a suitable yoghurt strainer, cheesecloth or fine filter to remove some of the whey.
Before adding fruit, honey, sweeteners or other flavourings, reserve a small amount of fresh, unflavoured yoghurt to use as the starter for your next batch.
By repeating this process regularly and caring for the culture correctly, your heirloom starter can continue producing batch after batch of homemade yoghurt indefinitely.
Full activation, incubation, straining, storage and re-culturing instructions are included.
