As winter draws to a close, we’re looking ahead to a tea-tastic trend of the future and sharing ways to support your heart health. Plus, we’ve also gathered some gut-friendly breakfast ideas to get you through the spring season.

What’s trending: Dandelion in our daily routines

Dandelions might be your garden lawn’s worst nightmare, but they’re getting a 360 degree wellness rebrand thanks to growing interest on TikTok.

“Girls who understand dandelion tablets, peppermint tea, three litres of water a day, getting eight hours of rest, daily gratitude, cutting out toxic people and magnesium,” writes TikTok user Izzy Utterson on one viral post, detailing her daily list of self-care non-negotiables.

So what’s the buzz about then? Well, according to one study,1 dandelion leaves, roots and flowers may offer several potential benefits.
Dandelion is packed with vitamin C, which supports the normal functioning of the immune system. It also contains vitamin A, essential for many bodily processes including maintaining normal vision, healthy skin, a robust immune system, proper membrane functioning and iron metabolism.1-4

How to get in on the trend: If you’re looking for a caffeine-free pick-me-up this month, Heath & Heather’s Organic Dandelion, Burdock & Hawthorn Tea combines a blend of warming herbs foraged from wild meadows and hedgerows. While dandelion is generally safe for most people to consume, it may interact with certain medications, particularly diuretics and blood thinners, so it’s always worth chatting to your GP before brewing up.

What’s new: Gut-friendly breakfasts

Emerging research into the microbiome – the multitudes of bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms living in our guts along with the chemicals they produce – is changing the way scientists think about it.

With a new study5 suggesting that our gut has more of an impact than we first thought – many of us are now seeking easy, everyday ways to support the balance of good and bad bacteria in our bodies, starting with what we put on our plate.
How to get in on the trend: If you’re a prebiotics food fan that’s already jumped on the lunchtime kimchi and sauerkraut bandwagon, why not turn your attention to the most important meal of the day? Our new food range includes lots of tasty breakfast ideas, including a warming gut tea, a delicious mango, cashew and puffed grain cereal and a gut-support blend that can be whizzed into grab-and-go shakes and smoothies.

What’s in season: Heart health matters

February marks the start of Heart Month, making it the perfect time to focus on keeping this vital organ looked after.

By making simple lifestyle adjustments – such as reducing highly processed foods, increasing physical activity and quitting smoking6 – people can significantly support their heart health.
How to get in on the trend: Alongside moving more, sleeping well and eating a balanced and varied diet, supplements can help you to stay topped up with vitamins and minerals that keep your heart happy. Two that many fall short on are Omega-3, so try our High Strength Triple Omega 3-6-9 capsules for a little extra support this month.

What you’re loving: Family immunity favourites

We’re in the thick of winter, and it can feel like everyone around you is starting to feel those dark nights. When it comes to diet, research into immunity supports the idea of eating more cruciferous vegetables7 (think cabbage, broccoli, kale), getting a daily portion of citrus fruits8 and even adding a sprinkle of turmeric9 to your dishes.
How to get on the trend: For an extra helping hand from supplements, pick up some Pure Cod Liver Oil with its added nutrients and Vitamin D3 Drops for Children on your next shop, which are suitable for the whole family.

What’s next: Tea glorious tea

Tea drinking is an ancient ritual that has been practiced for centuries and remains an essential part of British culture. Collectively, according to the UK Tea & Infusions Association, the country is estimated to enjoy around 100 million cups of tea per day, or 36 billion cups per year.10

But beyond basic builder’s brew, get ready to see a TikTok-friendly rise in wellness teas that help to support overall wellbeing. Fueled by the trend on social media for sharing night-time routines, a new gen of loose-leaf and bagged tea varieties promise exciting flavours and benefits, all in one delicious cuppa.
How to get in on the trend: One ingredient being used in teas is valerian root. Our Organic Nighttime tea contains 1% organic valerian root, as well as other relaxation ingredients like chamomile and spearmint.
