You must be over 18 and a UK resident to take this test.
Let Medichecks know the date of the first day of your last period (if you have them), this lets their doctors interpret your test accurately. This test is usually taken between days 2 and 5 of your period if you are a woman. It can be taken at anytime if you are not having periods. Please take your sample in the morning. High dose biotin supplements can affect this test. Do not take biotin for 2 days prior to this test. If you are taking biotin for medical reasons (e.g. multiple sclerosis) you should discuss this with your doctor. Hormone replacement therapy and the combined oral contraceptive pill can affect the results of this test. Please use your MyMedichecks account to let us know if you are taking these. You will get more accurate results if you are able to take this test during a break from your oestrogen containing medication. Handling hormone gels or pessaries (e.g. HRT or TRT) can cause higher than expected finger-prick blood results. If you use these take your blood sample from a finger which has not been in contact with a gel or pessary for several weeks, wearing a glove whilst applying the medication can help with this. Use of phyto-oestrogens could affect the results of this test. This includes over the counter supplements aimed at raising oestrogen levels, and some essential oils such as Rose-Otto and Geranium. Sleep quality can affect testosterone levels. Avoid taking your test when your sleep is likely to be disrupted, e.g. if you are getting less than five hours sleep per night. Medichecks tests are not a substitute for seeing your doctor, especially if you are experiencing symptoms. Medichecks doctors will interpret your results considering all the information you have provided to them, but will not diagnose, consult or provide any treatment. You will be advised to see your doctor for any necessary follow-up action.
