It may seem challenging to look glamorous when you’re staying in a tent at a festival, a long way from the nearest bathroom, but it’s not impossible to try and feel your best.
Traditionally, festivals may not be the most beauty-friendly events, but we’re here to help with some skin-saving tips that make it easy to step up your skincare routine, so you’ll have clean and glowing skin no matter what the weekend throws at you.
Save money and space with multi-tasking products
Versatile products are an essential part of your skincare routine at a music festival. As well as cutting down on packing space, meaning you won’t have to carry as much, stocking up on these multi-tasking skincare products will also help you save time and money.
Use a rich body lotion as a hand cream or take a small tub of coconut oil to moisturise your skin, tame frizzy hairs, remove make-up and keep your lips hydrated. As a lighter alternative to your usual foundation, use BB Cream which moisturises, covers up spots and blemishes, and also offers crucial sun protection.
Protect your skin from the sun
It might be wishful thinking hoping for clear blue skies, but one thing’s for certain — your skin can burn even if it’s cloudy. With that in mind, make sure you’re covered with a good SPF to shield your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
Skipping on sun care won’t give you a golden tan, so protect yourself with sun lotion so you don’t end up with sore, sunburnt skin. As you’re going to be outdoors, apply a sun lotion with at least SPF 15 to any exposed areas of skin and apply more on as the day goes on.
Pack travel size toiletries
Space is a priority when you’re camping in a tent, especially when you’ve got bulky items such as a sleeping bag, toilet rolls and wellies on your packing list. Travel light with smaller, compact versions of your favourite moisturiser, shower gel and deodorant so you’ll have everything you need while leaving more room for other essential items.

Take lots of face wipes
When the shower queues seem to go on for miles, just having a wash can seem like a mammoth task. Give the queues a miss and take along enough wet wipes or face wipes. This way you’ll be able to freshen up and cleanse your skin without any hassle. Not only are they convenient, there are different types of face wipes to suit your skin type. Wipes also double up, meaning you can remove dirt and make-up whilst moisturising your face or fighting blemishes.
Don’t forget your lip balm
Unlike the rest of our faces, our lips don’t have any oil glands which is why they dry out so easily. Dealing with festival conditions can leave lips chapped and parched. Stop your lips from drying out by benefitting from the added moisture provided in a conditioning lip balm. Too soothe your lips, try a balm enriched with vitamin E which has been studied for its conditioning effects on the skin, or try a tinted lip balm for a touch of colour.

Pamper your skin when you get home
After an unforgettable weekend of partying outdoors without enough sleep, your skin will have certainly seen better days. First, spoil yourself with a long, hot shower before treating your skin to an at-home mini-facial. Start with a gentle exfoliator to slough away dead skin and unclog your pores. Next, drape a warm facecloth over your face to open up your pores, then follow with a face mask to draw out impurities and soothe your skin. Rinse off and finish with a clarifying toner and moisturiser for gorgeous skin.
Healthy skin at a festival isn’t impossible
When you’ve got a long weekend of festival fun ahead of you, looking after your skin may be the last thing on your mind. But good skincare doesn’t have to be a chore, even if you’re camping for days on end.
