What is menopause?1
Menopause is the stage in life where your periods stop. It eventually happens to everyone who has a period, due to natural changes in hormones, but is usually between the ages of about 45 and 55.
You might experience signs of menopause for a few years before your periods stop. This is called perimenopause.
You officially reach menopause once you haven’t had a period for 1 year.
