If you’re not there yet, small and gradual changes (like a handful of this mix) are the most gut-friendly way to do it.2

High-fibre food FAQs

What are good high-fibre low-calorie snacks?

There are plenty of naturally high-fibre snacks that are also relatively low in calories. Fresh fruit, vegetable sticks with hummus, air-popped popcorn, seaweed thins, wholegrain crispbreads and roasted chickpeas are all good options. If you're trying to increase your fibre intake, it’s a good idea to do so gradually and remember to drink plenty of fluids as part of a healthy, balanced diet.5

Which fruits are high in fibre?

All whole fruits contain fibre, but some provide more than others. Berries are a good source of fibre, with raspberries and blackberries among the highest-fibre fruits, while kiwi, pears, apples (with the skin on), bananas and avocados are also good sources of fibre.6 Eating a variety of fruit as part of a balanced diet can help you increase your fibre intake while also providing a range of vitamins and minerals.

Is popcorn high in fibre?

Plain air-popped popcorn is a wholegrain and can be a good source of fibre, making it a satisfying snack between meals. A typical 20g serving of air-popped popcorn can contain around 3g of fibre7 – around 10% of an adult’s recommended daily fibre intake.2 Just keep an eye on flavours and toppings, as sweet or butter-coated varieties can be higher in sugar, fat and calories.
